Established under the Legal Services Act 2007, the SRA operates independently to protect clients and the public interest. It sets and enforces professional standards, fostering a trustworthy legal environment. The SRA's responsibilities include overseeing education and training requirements for solicitors, issuing practising certificates, and intervening when necessary to address misconduct or breaches of regulations. By promoting ethical conduct and high-quality legal services, the SRA plays a crucial role in upholding the reputation and reliability of the legal profession in England and Wales.
