India Young Professionals Scheme

Understanding the India Young Professionals Scheme

The India Young Professionals Scheme offers a limited number of places each year to Indian citizens who wish to live and work in the United Kingdom temporarily without requiring employer sponsorship.

The route is intended for qualified professionals who can demonstrate strong educational or career credentials. Participants are granted permission to stay for a fixed period, during which they can work, study, and experience life in the United Kingdom.

Applications are accepted only after a successful ballot entry. Once invited, you must submit your full visa application within a defined time frame. Our firm assists clients from ballot registration through to final decision, ensuring compliance with all Home Office standards under Appendix Youth Mobility Scheme: India.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the India Young Professionals Scheme Visa, applicants must be Indian citizens aged between 18 and 30 at the time of application. They must hold a recognised bachelor’s degree or demonstrate substantial professional experience at an equivalent level.

Applicants must show that they can maintain themselves in the United Kingdom upon arrival and must not have previously held a Youth Mobility Scheme or Young Professionals visa.

The Home Office invites eligible individuals to apply through periodic ballot rounds, and successful applicants must file their visa applications within the short validity period of the invitation.

At First Law Solicitors, we prepare clients in advance of the ballot, verifying academic qualifications through ECCTIS, assessing documentation, and ensuring that every supporting record meets evidential and format requirements.

Ballot Process

The ballot for the India YPS typically takes place twice each year. Only those who register during the official window and are selected in the draw may apply for the visa.

Our solicitors assist with early eligibility reviews and prepare a complete application portfolio in advance so that you can act immediately once selected. We also provide alternative visa options for clients not chosen in the ballot, including the Skilled Worker, Graduate, and Innovator Founder routes.

Financial and Healthcare Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient resources to support themselves when they arrive in the United Kingdom. This is verified through personal financial documentation held for a continuous period before the application.

All applicants must also meet the UK’s health coverage requirements as part of their visa process. These safeguards ensure that participants are fully self-sufficient during their stay.

Our solicitors review and structure every element of financial and supporting evidence to ensure it satisfies Home Office verification checks and data integrity standards.

Digital Filing and eVisa

The India Young Professionals Scheme now operates entirely through the UK’s Digital Immigration System, introduced under the Data Use and Access Act 2025 (DUAA).

Applicants complete their identity verification through the UK Immigration: ID Check App or, where required, by attending a Visa Application Centre. Once granted, your immigration status is confirmed electronically through a UKVI account, with no physical visa vignette or residence card issued.

At First Law Solicitors, we submit all YPS applications through secure, encrypted digital channels. Each filing is authenticated using Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES), ensuring full compliance with DUAA 2025 standards and maintaining the confidentiality of client data.

What the Visa Allows

Holders of this visa can live, work, and study in the United Kingdom for up to two years. They can take up employment in most sectors and engage in short courses or professional development.

Visa holders cannot access public funds, bring dependants under this category, or work as professional athletes or coaches.

While this visa does not lead directly to settlement, it provides valuable experience and credibility for future routes such as Skilled Worker, Global Talent, or Innovator Founder visas. Our solicitors help clients plan beyond the YPS to ensure their stay in the UK supports long-term professional goals.
