What is the UK Student Visa?
The UK Tier 4 Student Visa enables non-UK citizens to come to the UK in order to study at a Higher Education Provider (HEP) or British school.
The two categories are:
Tier 4 (General) Student Visa
This visa is designed for students who come to the UK for higher education and are aged 16 or over.
Tier 4 (Child) Student Visa
For children between 4 and 15 years old who come to the UK to attend an independent fee-paying school.
What is a Short Term Study Visa?
If you have been accepted onto an English language study course that lasts longer than six months and up to eleven months and includes no other subjects, you can apply for a Short Term Study Visa. The HEP running your course must be accredited and you will need to show you have enough money to support yourself during your course (or friends or family can accommodate and support you). You will also need to show that you have funds to pay for your flight out of the UK once you have completed your course.
